Privacy Statement

NNC guards your records from those who have no need to access them. Your records are available to you and the person you designate to hold durable power of attorney for health care. Your primary care physicians and other professionals and caregivers have access to your records on a need-to-know basis only. You may exclude someone from having access to your records by identifying that person by name and in writing.

NNC, with your permission, will email information and updates about you to those you designate and to RNs on the NNC Registry.

NNC records in computers and portable data devices are accessible only by password.

NNC does not discuss your situation in an environment where people not related to your care could overhear conversation.

NNC is discreet in acknowledging the names of our clients.

If you do not use email yourself, you may request in writing that your NNC Registered Nurse (RN) provide you with a copy of emails sent which contain information about you.

NNC will preserve your record for seven years, as required by federal regulations.

You have the right to amend your record by adding a signed and dated amendment to the record.

You may see any part of your NNC record by sending a written request for a copy to NNC’s Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Officer, Carol McShane, RN, MS, CMC, 4731 N. 25th Street, Lincoln, NE 68521.

NNC RNs have been provided a copy of these policy policies and have signed their agreement to abide by them.

As requested by HIPAA, NNC has signed a Business Agreement with Patrice McShane-Jewell, our bookkeeper and Jeffrey, Friehauf & Love, CPAs, our tax advisors. The agreement outlines the privacy requirements applicable to that company in handling bookkeeping and billing related to your account.
